Gunnari Auvinen - Software Engineering and Technical Leadership
Gunnari Auvinen is a software engineer specializing in software architecture, microservices, distributed systems, and JavaScript and TypeScript development. He began his career in electrical and computer engineering before transitioning to software engineering in 2014, then joining Sonian in 2015. Since then, Gunnari Auvinen has held software engineering and technical leadership roles across technology organizations, contributing to full-stack development, scalable services, system architecture, and engineering infrastructure.
At Turo, Gunnari Auvinen was a staff software engineer, working on engineering platform initiatives, legacy application modernization, caching infrastructure, and systems migrations. He later joined Labviva, where his work has included designing and implementing production services, participating in architectural planning, conducting code reviews, and leading system design efforts. He also contributed to the development of microservices and infrastructure supporting large-scale scientific data and analytics.
Outside of work, Gunnari Auvinen enjoys weightlifting, hiking, cooking, board games, and video games. He also volunteers monthly with Rice Sticks & Tea, a local food pantry program. He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with honors in 2005.
